Air Fryer Crispy Broccoli

Broccoli is a great source of fiber, protein, and calcium. It also contains an antioxidant called sulforaphane, which has been shown to help to reduce inflammation, oxidative stress and promote detoxification in children with autism. The addition of mustard seed powder in this recipe significantly helps the formation of sulforaphane from the broccoli.

This recipe delivers a salty, nutritious, crunch that many children love! The Air Fryer is a great kitchen appliance that often produces a delicious texture. My family loves the COSORI Air Fryer from Amazon, though there are many other models available.

Materials

Directions

  1. Preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes at 400º F, or by pressing your air fryer’s preheat button

  2. Place prepared broccoli florets into the air fryer basket and spray with avocado oil. Sprinkle generously with garlic salt, shake the basket, and repeat.

  3. Place the basket in the air fryer and press the broccoli/cruciferous veggie preset, if yours has one. If not, cook on 300 for 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through (many will prompt you to do this).

    1. If cooking from frozen, click the “frozen” prest or set to 350º F for 10 minutes (you may have to add a few more minutes to make it crispy)

  4. Once finished cooking, serve immediately for crispy broccoli! Serve plain with salt and pepper. You can also drizzle a little cashew queso on top for cheesy broccoli!
